The "Gesellschaft Möbelwagen 1897 e.V.", the first Stuttgarter Karneval Society, will celebrate their traditional Fasching highlight, the Fasching "Große-Prunksitzung", on |

For those not familiar with this type of event, it is not a Fasching party with a dance band.
Rather, the Karneval Society holds a "meeting", presided over by the president, who
introduces the various entertainment groups who perform on the stage. These include music
groups, dance groups, comics, and a series of "speakers" who make humorous speeches
lampooning politicians especially, and any other persons or events they feel worthy of
mention. It is always interesting, and can be quite fun, and they will certainly pull out all the
stops.The event will be conducted entirely in German.
Like last year's event, the Karneval Society has offered us tickets at a reduced rate:
Euro 25 per person. This is the entrance fee. Food and drink are extra. If enough persons from our club
show an interest, they will form a table for our group.
Kurt Döhrbeck has special forms for our members and guests to use to reserve tickets. If you are
interested, contact him by the end of January (contact info below), and he will send you an order form,
which you should fill out and send directly to the Karneval Society. They should receive your order
form No Later Than February 5, 2010. Be sure to add "Member, German-American Club 1948
Stuttgart" on the order form to get the reduced rate. If you went last year, want to go again and
received a reservation form directly in the mail, add the above statement and send the form to the
Karneval Society.
We are honored that the "Gesellschaft Möbelwagen e.V." has invited us to participate in
their special event. This is a good opportunity to experience this particular part of German culture and
tradition, and to continue our friendly relations with this German club.

Annual General Business meeting

One of the ways in which German-American Clubs help to foster understanding and friendship between our peoples is by supporting the Student Exchange Program sponsored by the Federation of German-American Clubs. Trami Christina Kraft and Ute delaChaux, who work with this program, will make a short presentation explaining what is involved, and then introduce some present and former exchange students, both German and American, who will tell us a little about themselves and their experiences in Germany and the United States.
Don't miss this chance to meet some really interesting young people who represent the next generation working to bring Germans and Americans together in an ever changing world.
