ABOUT THE CLUB

Our club was founded in 1948 with the assistance of US military authorities and the city of Stuttgart. The purpose of our club is to promote and maintain international understanding, tolerance, good relations and friendship between Germany and the United States.

We are a member of the Federation of the German-American Clubs e.V. which is recognized by the governments of both countries as making significant contributions to better understanding through student exchange, youth work and other programs.

Our members are Americans and Germans who want to have contact with each other and learn about the culture, history, language, customs, the people and the way of life of both nations. The club language is primarily English.

The club is open to anyone who believes in the goal of the club. Those interested are invited to attend a few of our meetings in order to find out what the club has to offer before joining. Usually we meet on a Saturday once a month at different places in the Stuttgart area. The events are always connected with a dinner at a nearby restaurant.

Some of the things we do together are including but not limited to the following:

  • outings to local points of interest
  • historic towns, castles, churches, museums
  • behind the scenes visits
  • wine tastings
  • special dinners ( sometimes with a guest speaker )
  • tours and visits to places in the greater Stuttgart area that help communicate the cultures
  • and customs of our countries

Membership dues for the club are currently € 75 per member per calendar year. For those joining after July 1st, the dues are € 35 for the rest of the year. Your membership includes your spouse or a guest as each member is entitled to bring one guest. Children are also welcome to suitable meetings.

The club can only provide the opportunity to meet people of the other country but everybody must make the effort to cultivate the friendship.

If you are not already on our mailing list for monthly invitations , please forward your complete address and telephone number to our club or give it to any board member. If you would like to become a member please ask for a membership application form.

Best regards,
